Clutter and Hoarding - The Latest 6 Easy Steps to Reduce Buildup in the Bathroom Toilet Bowl

Does your toilet bowl look like it's got rust stains in the bottom of it? Ugh! How do you get that stuff out of there? There is a simple way to get that gunk out. Keep reading to learn the latest 6 easy steps to reduce buildup in the bathroom toilet bowl.

1. You might want to open the bathroom window before you start cleaning. To clean the bowl in its current condition, put on some rubber gloves and use some of that toilet bowl cleaning stuff and a toilet bowl brush. Apply the bowl cleaner as instructed on the container, then scrub with the brush. Be sure to scrub under the bowl rim. Flush the toilet. How does it look? If the bottom is clean, you're ready to clean the outside.

If regular toilet bowl cleaner and a brush were not enough to thoroughly clean the bowl, you need something a little more abrasive. You can purchase or get maybe a pound or so of regular playground sand.

2.

After you get the sand as outlined in step number 1, you're ready to start cleaning again. Again, put on the rubber gloves. We're going to clean the residue left stuck to the sides of the bowl. If there is residue, that is when you will use the sand.

3. Turn off the water that feeds the toilet. Look under the tank near the wall. You'll see a shutoff valve. Turn it counter-clockwise until it stops. The water that feeds the toilet should be off now.

4. The next step is to temporarily let the water in the toilet bowl go down the drain. To do this, flush the toilet. The toilet tank should not fill. If it does, turn the shut off valve the other way. After you've finished this part, if you need to rest a bit, go get a drink of water or sit down in the living room and watch the TV for a few minutes. Then, come back to finish the job.

5. A plumber friend explained this simple trick to get the remaining residue on a toilet bowl cleaned out. Toss a little bit of the playground sand into the bowl. Using your gloved hand, gently use the sand to scrub off the residue. Done correctly and gently, it will cause no damage to the bowl itself. If you scrub too hard, you may cause scratches. So, just be gentle as you do this and it will all be fine.

6. Congratulate yourself for following through on finally getting the job done. You are a good person and you deserve to feel proud of your efforts.
